Feat Northwestern, Palmetto, and more.

Northwestern is so much better than we had originally anticipated.

“The West” really flexed their strength and talent versus Coconut Creek. Their elite DB room combined with elite pass catchers made it extremely difficult on the Cougars the entire game. We are going to keep this one short and sweet this team is well coached and has a lot of talent, which makes them an even bigger threat then we previously thought.

This was a great showing for Teddy Bridgewater, but much is left to be seen.

Coach Bridgewaters first showing was nothing short of dominant. His team showed up and was prepared for everything Palmetto threw at them. The ability to call plays that would make his QB’s life easier is the defining trait of Bridgewater’s coaching thus far. That being said we still need to see Northwestern go up against a stifling championship level defense before we proclaim a sure-fire return to greatness for the program.

The Ridge is very real.

The Spartans exceeded our expectations in week 1 even if it was a loss. QB James Parreraro is one of the best QB’s regardless of class in the state and that coupled with the array of weapons he has on offense makes this team a real threat. That isn’t all though as a matter of fact that offense was held to 14 points by a stingy Columbus defense. The Spartans defense was the most impressive part of their outing. They forced Columbus 3into a multitude of situations that were unfavorable and at the end one stop away from toppling the reigning state champions.

What did week 1 mean for Central?

Outside of the rockets front seven and a couple N’aeshaun Montgomery explosive plays Central really couldn’t move the ball on Lakeland. This Central team was one of our pre-season favorites to take home a chip, but there were some alarming things that happened in week 1. Most evidently the lack of offensive fire power that was on display. This isn't to say the Rockets won't turn this season around, but Rocket fans are more worried today then prior to week 1.

Palmetto and Homestead made statements... very different ones.

Palmetto took down last seasons state championship runner up who employs one of the top pass catchers in the entire country Cortez Mills, this was done by holding them to only 10 total points while scoring 14. The Panthers defense was absolutely stifling, bottom line. On the other hand, the Broncos were the ones getting stifled by a team that was not close to a state championship win last season with all due respect. The Broncos QB play among other concerns will need to be addressed if this team is to bounce back.
